Liverpool 2018

A year-long programme which celebrates the city’s culture and creativity.

In 2018, Liverpool celebrated a decade since its year as European Capital of Culture, a year that, over time, will be recognised as one of the pivotal moments in the extraordinary history of this city.

It kick-started a renaissance, a re-imagining – both physical and emotional – which is greater than any other city in Europe during that time, and added fuel to the fire of our extraordinary cultural and creative scene.

The explosion of music, festivals, food, art and performance in the years since 2008 has made the city the most exciting in the UK, and we want to use #Liverpool2018 as a chance to recognise the leading cultural and creative offer which it now boasts.

Come and join us for an unforgettable kaleidoscope of art, music, theatre, technology, style and sport, as the city’s signature mix of creative risk-taking and magical happenings takes centre stage.

From ancient wonders to audacious technological innovations, maritime celebrations to musical explorations, and artistic traditions to special commissions, it’s all happening here over 12 memorable months.

We want to invite the world to join us. To celebrate, to come together and to make the streets crackle with excitement.

Whether you are a resident of the Liverpool City Region or a visitor, we hope you have a wonderful time with us in 2018, and we look forward to having you join us on what is sure to be an epic journey.

Expect the unexpected, prepare for the spectacular, and watch this space – because there are many more announcements coming soon.
